  • finalising holiday arrangements

I've been home the last couple of weeks for stuvac and takehome sessions and I've saved a suprising amount of cash. It's enough to pay for Yvonne's MYC and also CruCramp. Feel like shopping. But don't want to get out of the house. Feel like a house bum, but I like being a bum. Mmm bed, home, warm, chocolate, icecream, Pepper.

My first laksa on campus

Today's weather: raining, cold and windy. What better than a bowl of laksa to warm you up?

I've heard that the Asian place in Matthews arcade has the best laksa on campus, so Shu and I walked up from lower campus to get laksa for lunch. It was worth the hike mmm sooo nice.

Black Swans

I bought a new cross-stitch kit from Spotlight yesterday. It's oh so beautiful! I started on the weekend and I can't wait to finish it. I will have to exercise self-restraint to put it away while I work on my takehomes :(

This is what it looks like:

This is what I've done so far:

Hunter Valley

On Friday afternoon, I went to the Hunter Valley with work people. It was a lovely bus ride with good conversations with my companion for the weekend and some cross-stitching as well.

We stayed at the Cumberland Motor Inn - which was nice and roomy and CLEAN!

Then we headed over to the Cessnock Hotel for some dinner and dancing. People sure can drink! But you know, I don't like to drink that much, coz 1 - I derive no utility from it, even though it's free; 2 - all the drinks I like are full of sugar and sugar=bad (yes I have now realised that substantial amounts of sugar is not my friend); 3- I want to be in control of my actions and 4- I don't want to stress out my liver when I know it's not that great shape atm.

Anyway the night was alright and we managed to get a taxi back to the Inn, after a fiasco earlier which resulted in a cabbie losing $5.60 coz we were too stingy to pay cash because he wouldn't accept credit cards...

Saturday = wine tasting at 4 wineries which I found educational. I've now confirmed that I do not like chardonnay but I do like semillion and ooh my favourite - dessert wine. I'm glad I had breakfast because nearly everyone else forgot about breakfast and starved until we had lunch at 2pm.

All in all, the weekend was really enjoyable because I got to spend time with a certain special someone and I also started on my next project - cross stitch #2.
